21st Annual
Colorado Space Roundup

Thriving In Space

December 4, 2024

Message from the Chair

Debra Wilcox, CSBR Chair

The Colorado Space Business Roundtable (CSBR) proudly hosted the 21st Annual Colorado Space Roundup on December 4, 2024!

This premier event brought together thought leaders, industry professionals, university partners, and the defense community to engage in policy discussions, connect with our Congressional delegation, and highlight Colorado’s leadership in STEM and JEDI initiatives.

This year’s theme, CO-llaboration and Thriving in Space, emphasized the importance of sustainability and collective innovation in shaping our presence in space. Colorado’s aerospace industry continues to thrive, providing launch services, putting satellites into orbit, and driving lunar exploration. Collaboration among individuals, companies, governmental representatives, and educational institutions remains a key advantage, positioning Colorado as a global leader in the space economy.

A highlight of the Roundup was the presentation of the Cosmic Contributor Award to Stephanie Mufic, Kelly Reeser, and Jamie Fisher for their exceptional work in launching Colorado’s statewide Teacher Externship program. Their efforts supported educators in gaining firsthand industry experience, creating opportunities for students and communities to benefit from updated and relevant insights into the rapidly evolving aerospace sector.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to this year’s sponsors, including Lockheed Martin and the Space Foundation as Platinum sponsors, Wings Over the Rockies and AIAA as Gold sponsors, and many others whose support made the Roundup possible. We also thank our partners, including the Colorado Space Coalition and Citizens for Space Exploration, for their shared commitment to advancing aerospace collaboration.

As we look to 2025, CSBR will continue promoting aerospace growth in Colorado through events, internships, and mentorship programs. We invite you to join us in keeping Colorado at the forefront of aerospace innovation by becoming a member, attending events, or volunteering to mentor the next generation of industry leaders. Together, we will propel Colorado’s aerospace industry to new heights!

To help us improve future events we invite you to share your feedback on the 21st Annual Colorado Space Roundup. Please take a few moments to complete our survey by clicking here. Thank you for helping us make the Colorado Space Roundup even better!

21st Annual Colorado Space Roundup

On December 4, 2024, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science became a vibrant gathering space, hosting more than 300 passionate minds from startups, defense organizations, academic institutions, and government agencies.

This year’s theme, CO-llaboration in Colorado Aerospace, set the tone for a day filled with inspiration, innovation, and invaluable connections. Attendees came together to celebrate Colorado’s status as a national leader in aerospace while exploring the big questions that will define the industry’s future.

Dynamic Discussions That Sparked Big Ideas

The highlight of the day was the two-part panel series, Space Habitation: Lunar & Beyond — Take Us There and Are We Ready. These conversations brought together some of Colorado’s most innovative thinkers to tackle the complexities of building sustainable futures in space. No topic was off-limits—challenges were met with bold ideas and collaborative energy, leaving audiences engaged and inspired.

The panels explored crucial questions about the technologies, partnerships, and global perspectives needed to shape a future in which space habitation becomes a reality. The takeaways were clear: the solutions of tomorrow will require integrated approaches that transcend industries, cultures, and timelines.

Every voice in the room played a part in fostering this vital dialogue, reminding us all that together, we form the collective force driving Colorado’s aerospace industry forward.

Industry Showcases That Stole the Spotlight

The Roundup’s exhibit floor was a visual feast, showcasing groundbreaking technologies, cutting-edge research, and innovative ideas from companies, organizations, and students. From emerging startups to established giants, the displays reflected the incredible breadth and depth of Colorado’s aerospace ecosystem.

The Workforce Readiness Panel focused on preparing the next generation of aerospace professionals to meet industry demands, leading seamlessly into the Congressional Panel. This high-profile discussion emphasized Colorado’s critical contributions to programs like NASA’s Artemis missions, Orion, SLS, and Vulcan, while also shining a light on national security priorities.

Key topics explored included:

Colorado’s Leadership: How can we ensure our state remains the nation’s top aerospace employer per capita and a key player in space innovation?

Advocacy for Growth: What steps will be taken to secure funding and foster collaboration across federal, state, and industry lines?

Championing Competition: How do we maintain a fair, transparent industry that encourages innovation and diversity?

Congressman Joe Neguse’s remarks highlighted the importance of unity and advocacy in ensuring Colorado’s continued leadership in space exploration. His inspiring words left attendees optimistic about the state’s future. Read his remarks here.

Networking That Builds Futures

The Roundup was more than just panels and exhibits—it was an opportunity to connect. From students eager to find mentors to industry leaders exploring new partnerships, the conversations sparked during the event are sure to lead to exciting collaborations and opportunities.

The energy in the room was palpable, reminding us why events like these are so important: they bring people together, foster ideas, and create the connections that make progress possible.
