21st Annual
Colorado Space Roundup
Thriving In Space
December 4, 2024
8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Welcome 2024 Colorado Space Roundup Participants!
Debra Wilcox, Board Chair, CSBR
Colorado Space Business Roundtable (CSBR) is excited to host the 21st Annual Colorado Space Roundup today, December 4, 2024! This annual event connects thought leaders, industry professionals, university, and defense partners to learn from our best and brightest, engage in policy discussions and reconnect with our Congressional delegation, and to shine a light on our STEM and JEDI initiatives. We know that you will leave inspired and connected to our Colorado Aerospace community.
The theme of CO-llaboration and to “Thriving in Space” speaks to the many ways in which we see ourselves in space. As bright young minds work on the possibilities of living, working, and developing products in space, we all recognize that we need to think about sustainability across the industry. Colorado is launching vehicles, putting satellites into orbit, and reaching the surface of the moon as a leader in the global space economy. There are more space faring nations than ever before and our ability to lead is enhanced by our ability to think and work collaboratively. The Roundup is all about furthering collaboration between individuals, companies, elected leaders, and educational institutions – which is another competitive advantage we have. Colorado’s aerospace community’s innovative and broad applications are even finding interest from different industry sectors. We have diverse thinkers and talent poised to code, develop, manufacture, and program the software and hardware that will cement our presence in space.
A highlight of the annual Roundup is the Cosmic Contributor award. This year we are recognizing three individuals who created and executed a statewide Teacher Externship program: Stephanie Mufic, Colorado Department of Labor and Employment; Kelly Reeser, Colorado Department of Labor and Employment; Jamie Fisher, Arapahoe/Douglas Works! This program was successful because these individuals worked together to get educators support, applied for grants, and recruited companies and entities to provide externship opportunities to standup the program. CSBR was pleased to host a total of four externs, three to work with our Summer Intern program and one who worked on the framework for our Security Clearance ready credential that will be ready for beta testing this school year. We cannot say enough about the individual and combined efforts these three awardees put forth to make this program a huge success in the very first year. CSBR is already looking toward participating next year to bring more educators into the program. The value of educators with firsthand knowledge of our industry means that students, their families, schools, and communities benefit from these educators who have fresh ideas and up-to-date information about our rapidly changing industry. We are delighted to honor Stephanie, Kelly, and Jamie for their contributions.
The Roundup would not be possible without the support of our sponsors. This year we have several new sponsors and are pleased to have Lockheed Martin and the Space Foundation as our Platinum sponsors; Wings Over the Rockies, and AIAA, as Gold Sponsors; Colorado Air and Space Port and University of Colorado, as Silver Sponsors. There are many Bronze and Community sponsors as well as breakfast and break sponsors all who are key to the success of Colorado Space Roundup. You can see all the sponsors on the signage around the event. Sponsorships indicate the vitality and strength of our community. Please visit the exhibits and thank them for their support. We also want to acknowledge our other Colorado Aerospace community partners, the Colorado Space Coalition and Citizens for Space Exploration who are equally committed advocates of the CO-llaboration mission.
As the calendar flips to the new year, CSBR will continue to lead statewide efforts to promote and advance Aerospace in Colorado. What can you do? Become a member, sign up for our events and volunteer to participate in our Summer Internship Program or to be a mentor for our Student Ambassadors. You will see our continued energy and leadership to attract companies to locate and grow in Colorado inviting students to attend our colleges and universities and to continue our support for the defense and national intelligence contractors whose vital operations are located here. We welcome your thoughts and ideas that will keep Colorado at the forefront of Aerospace in this country.
